The Elk Country Visitor Center is the premier location for seeing elk in their natural setting. Located in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Elk Country, it is the home to the largest elk herd in the northeastern United States. The Visitor Center provides year-round opportunities to see and hear these animals from viewing areas and our indoor Great Room.
The Visitor Center was designed for visitors of all ages. It offers interactive panels and educational displays rich with wildlife knowledge. The Great Room features hands-on exhibits, indoor observation area and a cozy fireplace where guests can gather and relax. Interactive exhibits, 4D story theater, short walking trails and viewing areas overlook the wildlife habitat. We also feature educational programs for groups of all ages and the public. Our unique gift shop features only made in the USA products, many of which are made by local artisans and product makers.
Nature trails and outdoor recreation opportunities are located nearby. Just beyond our Visitor Center are the Pennsylvania Wilds with over two million acres of rivers, forests, towns and historical sites – a wealth of opportunities for exploration. A variety of lodging is nearby to allow you to spend the weekend or a few days enjoying all that Elk Country has to offer.
